Hydrogen peroxide is a relatively strong oxidizing agent with multiple uses. Thanks to our yearly output of more than 200,000 tonnes, we can reliably supply hydrogen peroxide to our customers within those regions where we have a production footprint.
From production facilities in Norway, Sweden, Venezuela, and USA, we offer our customers stabilized aqueous hydrogen peroxide solutions under the brand name Eka HP. As a bulk supplier, we offer Eka HP mainly in concentrations of 35%, 50%, and 70% delivered in ISO containers, railcars, tanker trucks and drums. Product grades, concentrations and delivery alternatives vary by market and not all alternatives are globally available. We produce hydrogen peroxide in a closed-loop process. Hydrogen peroxide is a clear, colorless liquid. It is odorless at low concentrations, but higher concentrations can give off a slightly pungent smell.
Approximately 60% of all hydrogen peroxide produced worldwide is used as an agent in the bleaching of both mechanical and chemical pulps, supporting elemental chlorine free (ECF) bleaching and as the main product in totally chlorine free (TCF) bleaching methods. Hydrogen peroxide is used as a reducing agent in our SVP-HP® and HP-A technologies for producing chlorine dioxide – the basis in ECF bleaching technology – delivering better cost efficiency, higher yields and fewer environmental disadvantages. Hydrogen peroxide has a number of other commercial uses, including the manufacture of chemicals and detergents, general and hard surface disinfectant, textile applications, aseptic food processing, mining industry applications and aquaculture.
